Allegany Business Center Client Success Story: ROGER RAMSEY Roger Ramsey contacted the Allegany Business Center in the fall of 2007 looking for technical assistance and a loan to increase the inventory of his small computer store. Roger injured in an accident earlier in the year and saw his credit fall as he could not be at the store and the bills kept piling up. Roger used that small loan to help increase his second year sales by nearly 60%. He then continued with his work and was soon inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit to begin working on a solar, wireless internet invention. Roger built a prototype and soon began testing it and was able to use it that summer at the annual balloon rally. He brought in an individual to help him market the idea and get it out to the public. Roger again approached the business center to secure an additional loan to help with his device, now known as SkyStream. He was able to get a $25,000 loan to continue developing the SkyStream project and an additional $7,000 to secure a patent. Roger was recently been featured in a statewide article for his project and is continuing to spread the word about both his store and his wireless product. He recently produced an ad for Time Warner Cable and created 585 Remote, a way for computer technicians to remotely provide assistance to their clients without having them bring in their computers. Through this program, Roger has hired three part-time individuals. He continues to be an active client that has been extremely thankful for the assistance in initially saving his business and now allowing it to prosper. Roger needed help to get back on his feet and has stated, “The EAP program and ACDSI of the Allegany Business Center saved my business. They believed in me when others didn’t… and I will be forever grateful.” |
